Arsenal continue to assess multiple attacking targets ahead of the summer transfer window, and one of their reported options has just made a statement on the international stage with a stunning hat-trick.
The Gunners are expected to be active in the upcoming window after a quiet January, with their pursuit of a new forward leading them to several high-profile names. Newcastle United have reportedly set a £150 million price tag on Alexander Isak, while RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško is expected to see his release clause rise to €80 million. Additionally, Eintracht Frankfurt have valued 22-year-old striker Hugo Ekitike at a similar price, according to recent reports.
Ekitike, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal as a potential alternative to Isak, delivered a standout performance for France’s U21 side during the international break. The Eintracht Frankfurt forward scored a hat-trick in a thrilling 5-3 victory over England U21, spoiling Lee Carsley’s return as England’s head coach.

England took the lead after just 90 seconds through James McAtee, but France responded quickly, with Quentin Merlin equalising in the fourth minute before Ekitike put his side ahead just three minutes later.

Harvey Elliott momentarily restored parity for England, but Ekitike struck again before halftime, securing his brace and putting France ahead 3-2. The young forward then completed his hat-trick early in the second half, tapping in from close range to further showcase his predatory instincts in front of goal.

Liam Delap’s header gave England a glimmer of hope at 4-3, but Rayan Cherki sealed the win with a goal of his own, capping off an excellent performance that included two assists. England’s night worsened when Omari Hutchinson received a straight red card for a reckless challenge in the closing minutes.
Ekitike has now scored 13 goals for Eintracht Frankfurt this season, strengthening his case as a viable attacking option for Arsenal. With the club aiming to bolster their frontline ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, his name could remain high on their shortlist as they weigh up their summer transfer plans.
