Former Chelsea and Tottenham midfielder Gus Poyet believes Brighton forward Joao Pedro could be the key to solving Arsenal attacking struggles.
Pedro, who joined Brighton in a £30 million move from Watford in 2023, has been in fine form this season, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in the Premier League. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Liverpool reportedly showing interest in the Brazilian ahead of the summer transfer window.
Arsenal, meanwhile, have faced difficulties in attack this season due to injuries to Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and Kai Havertz. Calls for Mikel Arteta to sign a new striker have grown louder, and Poyet sees Pedro as a strong option to bolster the Gunners’ frontline.
“Joao Pedro can play for any Premier League team, including Arsenal,” Poyet told mybettingsites.co.uk.

“I met Brighton’s coach, Fabian Hürzeler, in Germany, and we spoke about football for hours like two little kids. He really impressed me, and I’m not surprised Joao is thriving under him.

“He’s taken on responsibility, understands his role – whether as a No. 9 or playing just behind the striker – and he’s embraced the demands of the Premier League. Arsenal are missing something up front, and he’s a very good player.”

Arsenal have been linked with several high-profile strikers ahead of the summer, including Alexander Isak, Benjamin Šeško, Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyökeres, and Matheus Cunha. However, Arteta will have to decide which forward best fits his squad’s needs to mount a serious title challenge next season.
Reports suggest that Šeško is viewed as a prime candidate for a move to the Emirates, while Newcastle’s £150 million valuation of Isak could prove too costly for Arsenal.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Arsenal’s pursuit of a new striker will be one of the key storylines to watch.
