Arsenal ‘s pursuit of a new striker has gained further momentum after one of their key targets, Viktor Gyokeres, was described as being “from another world” by a teammate.
The Sporting CP forward has been in sensational form, netting 40 goals in 41 appearances this season, following a prolific debut campaign in Portugal, where he scored 43 times after joining from Coventry City. His remarkable goal-scoring record has placed him on the radar of several top European clubs, including Arsenal.
With Mikel Arteta’s side in desperate need of a reliable centre-forward, Gyokeres has emerged as a prime target for the Gunners. His Sporting teammate, Spanish defender Ivan Fresneda, has heaped praise on the Swedish striker, highlighting his incredible physicality and goal-scoring instincts.

“He always needs to score goals, and if he doesn’t, he gets frustrated,” Fresneda told FlashScore. “He’s a machine—in games, in training, in life. He’s a star from another world.”

Fresneda went on to emphasise Gyokeres’ all-around ability, stating: “He’s on another level. He’s very complete—physically strong, fast, powerful, and clinical in front of goal. You don’t find many players like him in today’s game.”

When asked about Gyokeres’ growing list of suitors, Fresneda was unsurprised. “What people see in matches is exactly what we see in training. A lot of clubs are talking about him, but he remains the same hardworking player every day.”
Arsenal are expected to prioritise signing a striker this summer after failing to reinforce their attack in the January transfer window—a decision that may have cost them in the Premier League title race. Despite initial interest in England’s Ollie Watkins, the Gunners did not make a high-profile addition, and their title hopes have since faded.
While Gyokeres is reportedly open to a move to the Emirates, Arsenal are also considering other options, including Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, as they look to strengthen their attacking firepower ahead of next season.
