Arsenal are gearing up for a busy summer transfer window, with several deals in the pipeline as they plan for the 2025/26 season. While the Gunners have faced challenges in the current campaign, they still have a chance to make history by securing their first-ever UEFA Champions League title. However, to achieve that dream, they must first overcome defending champions Real Madrid in their upcoming quarter-final clash next month.

With the team focused on their next Premier League fixture against Fulham on Tuesday, manager Mikel Arteta and incoming sporting director Andrea Berta are already making crucial squad decisions. More than seven first-team players could depart the Emirates Stadium this summer, with significant changes expected to begin in the goalkeeping department.

David Raya’s position as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper is secure, as he has been one of the club’s standout performers this season. However, goalkeeping coach Iñaki Caña has been advocating for the signing of Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia to serve as Raya’s backup. Garcia, highly rated in Spain, has been in impressive form, making it a challenge for Arsenal to convince him to accept a secondary role.

Meanwhile, veteran goalkeeper Neto is expected to return to Bournemouth in June after limited playing time this season. In light of these developments, reports have emerged that Arsenal will promote 19-year-old academy goalkeeper Alexei Rojas to the first team.

According to South American journalist Pipe Sierra, Rojas and his representative confirmed in London that the young Colombian international has signed a new and improved contract with Arsenal. The agreement ensures that Rojas will be part of the first-team setup in the 2025/26 season.

Rojas signed his first professional contract with Arsenal in July and has been a key player in the club’s youth teams. His promotion coincides with the uncertain future of Karl Hein, who has served as Arsenal’s third-choice goalkeeper in recent seasons. Hein has impressed on loan at Real Valladolid in La Liga, despite the club’s struggles, and is now expected to seek regular first-team football elsewhere.

With Hein potentially moving on, Rojas will have an opportunity to step up as Arsenal’s third-choice goalkeeper. The young shot-stopper has long been regarded as one of the academy’s top prospects, and he is eager to establish himself as the club’s number one in the future.
