When Arsenal secured the signing of Jurrien Timber from Ajax in the summer of 2023, it was widely regarded as a shrewd piece of business. However, few anticipated just how impactful the Dutch defender could be. Arriving at the Emirates Stadium for a reported £38 million, Timber’s debut season was marred by a devastating ACL injury suffered against Manchester City in the Community Shield, sidelining him for nine months.
Since his return in May, the versatile defender has established himself as a key figure in Arsenal’s backline. Despite the Gunners dealing with several defensive injuries this season, Timber has consistently held down the right-back position, exceeding expectations following his lengthy layoff.

Timber’s impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, and it appears Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had plans to bring in another member of the Timber family. Reports indicate that the Gunners were closely monitoring Feyenoord captain Quinten Timber, with the 23-year-old emerging as a potential midfield reinforcement ahead of next season.

Quinten, a crucial player in Feyenoord’s Eredivisie title-winning campaign last season, continued his fine form this term, contributing six goals and one assist in 26 appearances before sustaining a knee injury against AC Milan. His dynamic ability to transition from defence to attack has drawn interest from several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United.

With midfield departures on the horizon—Jorginho and Thomas Partey among those linked with exits—Arteta could revive his interest in Quinten, who will have just one year remaining on his Feyenoord contract at the end of the season. Unlike his brother Jurrien, who thrives in defence, Quinten primarily operates in central midfield, offering an all-round skill set that could bolster Arsenal’s squad.
While Quinten remains a potential target for next summer, Arsenal are also exploring other midfield options, including Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi, who is widely expected to join the club in the upcoming transfer window.
