Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a positive team news update ahead of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 second-leg clash against PSV Eindhoven.

The Gunners take a commanding 7-1 aggregate lead into the second leg after a stunning performance at the Philips Stadion last Tuesday. Despite recent struggles in front of goal, Arsenal delivered a statement victory, and Arteta is confident about his side’s progression to the next round.

One of the biggest boosts for Arsenal is the early return of Gabriel Martinelli. The Brazilian forward, sidelined since February, was originally expected to return after the international break alongside Bukayo Saka. However, Martinelli is already back in action, with Arteta confirming that every player who finished the 1-1 draw against Manchester United is fit and available.

“Everybody finished the game against Man United with no issues, so I expect the same players to be available, and Gabby for sure will be available as well.”

Another key returnee for Arsenal is Ben White, who could make his first start since undergoing knee surgery in November. The 27-year-old defender made his comeback as a substitute against West Ham on February 22 and has since featured in two more cameo appearances for a total of 18 minutes. Now, Arteta believes White is ready to start but insists his workload will be managed carefully.

“That connection that we had on the right side with him, Bukayo, and Martin was something exceptional and a real threat in the team, we missed that. It’s true that Jurrien [Timber] has been equally exceptional as well with his performance and consistency. Now we’re going to have another option, which is great to have.”

On White’s readiness to start: “I think we have to manage him very well because he was still having some issues in terms of the load. We’re very cautious to ensure that when he comes back, he can maintain that level and avoid any setbacks, but I think he’s in a good position now to give him a start.”
