Arsenal are reportedly working to secure the futures of four key first-team players as Mikel Arteta looks to maintain the core of his squad and build a team capable of long-term dominance.

According to Sami Mokbel of the BBC, the club is set to initiate contract negotiations with multiple players, including Bukayo Saka, who is entering the final two years of his current deal.

Despite being sidelined since December due to a serious hamstring injury that required surgery, Saka remains a crucial figure in Arteta’s plans. Arsenal are determined to avoid any uncertainty surrounding the 23-year-old’s future and will prioritise securing him on a new long-term contract.

Saka, who signed his current deal in 2022—reportedly worth at least £10 million per season—is tied to the club until the summer of 2027. However, Arsenal have already begun laying the groundwork for new discussions, with talks expected to accelerate in the coming months.

The England international’s reputation as one of Europe’s elite attacking talents means his contract situation will attract interest from top clubs, particularly after Manchester City previously explored a move before his last renewal. Arsenal, however, are confident that their status as Premier League title contenders and Champions League regulars will help persuade Saka to extend his stay.

Saka is not the only Arsenal star approaching the final years of his contract. Leandro Trossard, who has already held preliminary discussions, sees his current deal expire in the summer of 2026. Meanwhile, key defensive duo William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães are both under contract until 2027.

Speaking earlier this month about his future, Saliba confirmed that formal talks had yet to begin but reassured fans of his commitment, stating: “For me, I’m really happy here. I’m happy here and I want to continue here.”

Magalhães has also been in discussions over a potential extension, though the Brazilian defender is believed to have interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.
