Arsenal officially introduced Andrea Berta as their new sporting director on Sunday, a move that has generated excitement and anticipation among fans ahead of the summer transfer window. The Gunners navigated the January transfer window without a sporting director, and reports suggest that this may have contributed to their inactivity in the market.
With Berta now at the helm, Arsenal are heading into the summer with a clear strategy. The club’s primary focus is to reinforce their attacking options, particularly by signing a top striker. Injuries to key forwards have hampered their campaign, prompting the need for reinforcements. Among the players linked to the North London club are Alexander Isak, Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres, and Matheus Cunha.
Cunha, currently at Wolverhampton Wanderers, has added fuel to transfer speculations by expressing his ambition to compete for major trophies—an objective that seems unlikely at Wolves. The Brazilian forward is expected to be in high demand this summer, with the prospect of a big-money move on the horizon.

Arsenal have registered their interest in the 24-year-old, particularly as long-term injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have exposed their need for attacking reinforcements.

However, reports suggest that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta harbours concerns over Cunha’s temperament, which could influence the club’s final decision. Despite signing a new contract at Molineux to fend off interest in January, Cunha has now publicly addressed his future aspirations.

Speaking to The Guardian, he revealed his desire to take the next step in his career. “I had a lot of offers, but I wouldn’t feel well if I had taken one,” Cunha said. “Some things you can’t control, but I couldn’t leave the club in the middle of the season, in a difficult situation, in the relegation zone. Now, we’re close to achieving our goal [of staying up]. But I’ve made it clear that I need to take the next step. I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential.”
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest are reportedly preparing a record-breaking bid for Cunha, should they secure Champions League qualification. The club had expressed interest in the Brazilian in January, but Wolves were firm in their stance against selling him mid-season.
