Arsenal are reportedly preparing to enter negotiations with Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhães over a new long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium.
The 27-year-old has formed a formidable defensive partnership with William Saliba and is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the Premier League. However, Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, home to Cristiano Ronaldo, is keen to lure him away from North London with a lucrative contract offer.
With just 24 goals conceded in 29 league matches this season, the Gunners have established themselves as one of the Premier League’s most defensively resilient sides. Their backline secured another clean sheet before the international break, edging past Chelsea in a closely contested London derby at the Emirates.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are set to accelerate talks to extend Gabriel’s stay in North London, recognising his crucial role in Mikel Arteta’s squad. The club is reportedly planning to offer the Brazil international a new contract, reinforcing their commitment to retaining key players.

Arsenal’s ambition to build a squad capable of sustained success has seen them prioritise contract renewals, with discussions also ongoing over a fresh five-year deal for teenage sensation Ethan Nwaneri. The Gunners are determined to secure their core group as they aim to end their 20-year wait for a Premier League title.

Gabriel’s consistent performances have attracted interest from Saudi Pro League clubs, with Al-Nassr rumored to be among the potential suitors. In response, Arsenal are keen to finalise a new deal for the defender, whose current contract runs until 2027.
Despite the financial lure from Saudi Arabia, Gabriel remains focused on Arsenal. New sporting director Andrea Berta is expected to lead discussions on extending the defender’s contract, but reports suggest the Gunners could consider offers starting from £83 million.
While Arsenal’s priority is to secure Gabriel’s long-term future, the club remains aware of the financial implications of a potential sale. If a Saudi Pro League club meets their valuation, the Gunners could face a difficult decision regarding the Brazilian’s future.
Despite ongoing debates about Arsenal’s attacking efficiency, their defensive solidity has been undeniable. The pairing of Gabriel and Saliba has been instrumental in establishing the Gunners as the Premier League’s most resilient backline, capable of neutralising some of Europe’s most potent attacks.
