Arsenal forward Caitlin Foord marked a milestone moment for the club as she netted her 50th goal in a 4-0 emphatic victory over Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The Australian forward opened the scoring in the first half, prodding home from close range after being set up by Frida Maanum. It was a fitting way to reach her half-century, coming in her 157th appearance for the Gunners since joining in 2020.

Reflecting on her achievement, Foord expressed her pride at hitting the milestone.

“I’m super proud to score 50 for Arsenal,” she told the club’s official website. “It’s an honour to be able to do that, to play for this club, and contribute as much as I can. So I’m very pleased.”

Her opener set the tone for another commanding performance at the Emirates, with Arsenal doubling their lead just 90 seconds later to establish early control.

“I think that tends to be what happens when we score early,” Foord explained. “We started fast, got one early, and then another not long after. It definitely helps to take the pressure off, and then you see we can play even more freely after a few more goals.”

The forward also admitted that Arsenal had an extra incentive heading into the match, after Liverpool knocked them out of the FA Cup earlier this season.

“Obviously, they knocked us out in the cup, so we wanted a bit of revenge. That was in the back of our minds going into this game. We’re glad to get the win and to do it comfortably.”

The match also saw a special moment for Victoria Pelova, as she made her long-awaited comeback in the second half following a 10-month absence due to an ACL injury.

“She is buzzing. We’re all so happy for her,” Foord said of her teammate’s return. “Every game, we were hoping it would happen, and for her to come back here at the Emirates, in front of the crowd and her family—it’s one she’ll definitely remember. Hopefully, it’s the first of many more to come.”

Foord also highlighted the impact Pelova’s return will have on the squad, adding: “She’s a special player, and having her back strengthens our squad even more.”

With their record-breaking home form continuing, Arsenal will now turn their attention to their upcoming Champions League second-leg clash against Real Madrid, as they look to overturn a 2-0 deficit and keep their European hopes alive.
