Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya believes it is “just a matter of time” before the club secures silverware, as he praised his “incredible” teammates.

The Spain international, who joined the Gunners in the summer of 2023, is yet to win a trophy with the North London side. While Arsenal remains in contention for the Premier League title, a 12-point gap to leaders Liverpool makes a comeback highly unlikely. Their exits from the FA Cup and Carabao Cup mean their only remaining opportunity for silverware this season lies in the UEFA Champions League.

Mikel Arteta’s men have impressed on their way to the quarter-finals but now face a formidable challenge against defending champions Real Madrid. Despite the difficulty of the task ahead, Raya insists there is excitement within the squad and remains confident that Arsenal will soon lift a trophy—whether it is the Champions League this season or another competition in the near future.

“It’s a great, great place to be. It’s a great club, and the team is incredible,” the 29-year-old told Sky Sports. “I think we are going in the right direction to achieve things together. It’s just a matter of time before it happens.

“Everybody wants to win the Champions League, and we know how hard it is, but we are very, very excited. Now we have a big challenge ahead—playing against Real Madrid. But these are the kinds of games you dream of as a child, the games everyone wants to play in. So we are very, very excited to see where that takes us.”

Following the international break, Arsenal returns to Premier League action with a home fixture against Fulham before traveling to Everton. Then, attention will turn to their highly anticipated Champions League quarter-final tie, with the first leg against Real Madrid at the Emirates Stadium followed by the decisive return leg in Spain the following week.

Arsenal last reached the Champions League semi-finals in the 2008-09 season, falling to Manchester United at that stage. Arteta and his squad will be eager to make history and take a step closer to European glory.
