Footage has surfaced of the incident that could result in Kylian Mbappe being banned from Real Madrid’s Champions League quarter-final showdown with Arsenal.
UEFA announced on Thursday that it is investigating the conduct of four Real Madrid players following their dramatic last-16 victory over Atletico Madrid earlier this month. Mbappe is among those under scrutiny, with allegations that he made a derogatory gesture by touching his genitals.
A newly circulated video on social media appears to capture the moment in question. In the footage, Real Madrid players are seen celebrating in front of their travelling supporters after winning the tie on penalties. At one point, Mbappe appears to grab his genitals and shake them with his left hand.

If found guilty, the French forward could face a ban, potentially ruling him out of the quarter-final clash against Arsenal. Real Madrid are set to travel to the Emirates Stadium on April 8 before hosting the Gunners at the Santiago Bernabeu eight days later.

Atletico Madrid have reportedly submitted four separate video clips to UEFA, claiming they provide clear evidence of the alleged offenses, including Mbappe’s gesture.

The controversy follows a similar incident in 2019 when Atletico manager Diego Simeone was fined but avoided a touchline ban after grabbing his crotch during a Champions League match against Juventus.

Alongside Mbappe, Antonio Rudiger, Vinicius Jr., and Dani Ceballos are also under investigation. Rudiger is accused of making a throat-slitting gesture, while Vinicius allegedly clashed with opposition fans during and after the match, at one point pointing to the Real Madrid crest on his substitute’s coat. Ceballos is also facing allegations of making an offensive gesture.
Real Madrid have crucial league fixtures against Leganes and Valencia, as well as a Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Real Sociedad, before their high-stakes European encounter with Arsenal.
