Arsenal forward Raheem Sterling has expressed disappointment over a missed opportunity to score, despite playing a key role in his side’s 2-2 draw against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Sterling, who was named Man of the Match for his two assists, delivered an impressive performance at the Emirates Stadium. His precise touch set up Oleksandr Zinchenko’s stunning opener, as the Ukrainian curled a superb effort into the top-left corner. However, PSV quickly responded, with former Tottenham winger Ivan Perisic producing a clinical finish to level the score.
Sterling continued to influence the game and was instrumental in restoring Arsenal’s lead. His brilliant run down the right flank resulted in a pinpoint cross, allowing Declan Rice to head home and put the Gunners back in front. Despite Arsenal’s efforts to regain control, PSV found another equaliser through Couhaib Driouech, who chipped past David Raya following a well-timed pass from Isaac Babadi.

Sterling had a golden chance to get on the scoresheet himself but was denied by the PSV goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation. Speaking after the match, the England international admitted his frustration at not converting his chance, despite his strong overall display.

“It was nice, but I should have had a goal as well,” Sterling told TNT Sports. “It was nice to be out there and contribute to the team. I just wanted to play my game and be dynamic.”
Sterling also praised the winning mentality instilled by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, acknowledging the competitive nature of the squad.

“When you have a leader like we do, with the manager, he has a tight-knit group. You can feel it,” Raheem Sterling added. “Yes, we are a few points behind, but the boys have done really well, and in the last bit of the season, we have to give it a right push.”
Reflecting on his personal situation, the Chelsea loanee admitted he has had to be patient for opportunities but remains determined to make an impact.
“I know what I am capable of. You just want to be playing,” he said. “It’s a top club with top players, and you just have to wait for your moment. That’s what I’m doing. I still believe I have a big part to play.”
Raheem Sterling will miss Arsenal’s next match against Chelsea on Sunday due to ineligibility against his parent club, as the Gunners shift their focus back to the Premier League in search of vital points.
